| Functions |
|
The key features of Cyclos are discussed below.
For participants
Cyclos is a market place and transactional system in one. So what does this mean?
Think of a market place website like an on line market: an on line meeting point of supply and demand. People use it to search for goods and services and/or to advertise goods and services. Participants can advertise, ask for, and search.
An example of a transactional system is online banking. Each participant has one or more accounts, makes and receives payments, and sends and receives bills.
Other functions include (some functions may be switched off by the administration):
- A built-in message system to send messages to the administration or other participants, either in the Cyclos mailbox or via email
- The option to receive notifications of new payments, bills, expiring loans and so on.
- The option to receive notifications of a new advertisement that satisfies personal criteria
- An address book of frequently used contacts
- Advanced search possibilities
- The option to give and receive feedback
- Complete, searchable transaction history
- Loans and automatic repayments
For administrators
- Extensive group configuration. One-to-many group account linking. Settings, transaction fees, contributions, transaction types, custom fields, page styles, can all be defined at the group level.
- Extensive account configuration
- Extensive transaction fees and contributions configuration
- Integrated multi-currency options

Technical information on Cyclos
Cyclos 3.0 offers a rich environment for Time Banks and LETS. Cyclos 3.5/6 and higher are aimed at larger business and financial usage scenarios.
In preparation is the 4.0 release which will be based on the GWT (Google Web Kit) framework. There will be no effortless migration to 4.0.
Additional terms of use for Cyclos
For Cyclos there are these additional terms of use:
- It is possible for an administrator to change program .jsp pages.
This can easily break the application. If you use this function, there
will be no (free) support. We recommend against changing the program
.jsp pages (this does not apply to the so called 'static pages').
- If you request support, you will be required to hand over your
configuration plan. Otherwise it will be impossible to give support,
given the broad configuration possibilities of Cyclos. The
configuration plan must contain the following items and their settings:
account types, transaction types, transaction fees, contributions,
groups, permissions (except for the standard configuration of Cyclos).
This means, that all configuration changes that were made must be
described in the configuration plan.
Our English demo system is available here.
At request an administration login is available for customers.
There are English, German and other language demos at the Cyclos
project site:
http://project.cyclos.org.
Digitekst supports Cyclos implementations in many ways. This includes consultation, installation, implementation, training, application hosting, problem solving, and modification. Address all of your questions to:
